Celebrating a Major Milestone: SESAM Recognizes ClinCaseQuest’s Defragmented Debriefing Model as an Advancement in Clinical Simulation 2024
At ClinCaseQuest, we are thrilled to announce an outstanding achievement in the field of medical education. Our innovative Defragmented Debriefing Methodology has been officially recognized by the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM) and published in their prestigious journal, Advances in Simulation. This recognition comes right before the annual SESAM conference (19 June 2024) and marks a significant step forward in clinical simulation training.
The Journey to Recognition
In June 2024, at the 29th SESAM Annual Meeting in Prague, we had the honor of presenting our groundbreaking work: “Defragmented Debriefing Methodology for Enhancing Online Simulation Training in Medical Education.” This methodology forms the backbone of the simulation training at ClinCaseQuest, developed to improve the quality of medical training and the acquisition of clinical competencies. It was an immense honor to have our work acknowledged and published in Advances in Simulation, solidifying its relevance and potential for global impact.
Our Defragmented Debriefing Model was born from a deep desire to enhance medical simulation during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, when the world stood still, medical training had to adapt to new realities. The team at ClinCaseQuest took on the challenge of creating a solution that would not only bridge the gap left by the pandemic but elevate the entire simulation training experience.
What is Defragmented Debriefing?
Defragmented debriefing is a method that refines the traditional simulation training approach by focusing on enhanced immersion, continuous competency acquisition, and in-depth clinical decision-making. It ensures that medical learners experience a seamless and thorough debriefing process, preventing the fragmentation of skills that can occur during disjointed training sessions. This model is particularly suited for both in-person and online simulation settings and has shown remarkable promise in improving training outcomes for diverse medical specialties.
Key Advantages of Defragmented Debriefing:
- Enhanced Online Training: Delivers high-quality outcomes even in virtual environments.
- Deep Immersion: Offers a comprehensive dive into clinical decision-making.
- Competency Preservation: Prevents skill fragmentation and ensures continuous learning.
- Broader Training Applications: Expands opportunities for specialties previously beyond the scope of simulation.
- Multi-location Simulation: Supports complex clinical cases across multiple locations.
- Comparable to Real Practice: Provides clinical experience on par with real-world practice.
- Adaptability: Highly personalized and adaptable to both trainers and learners.
The Path Ahead
This recognition from SESAM reflects the hard work and dedication of our team, who spent four years merging clinical expertise with an innovative approach to medical education. We remain committed to pushing the boundaries of simulation training through further scientific collaboration, research, and validation.
As we continue to grow, we invite universities, medical faculties, hospital simulation centers, and simulation training platforms to explore our methodology and collaborate in advancing medical education worldwide.
Join Us on the Journey
At ClinCaseQuest, we believe that defragmented debriefing has the potential to revolutionize simulation training, providing learners with a more in-depth, immersive experience that translates to real-world clinical competence. We look forward to sharing more developments and continuing our mission to enhance medical training for professionals across the globe.
